7 Things You Can Do to Keep Your House and Neighborhood Clean

When you live in a neighborhood, you should, of course, be concerned about your own home. But there’s a lot more to think about than just what your own house looks like. If you want to be a good citizen of your community, you have got to think about what the whole neighborhood looks like. This is going to ensure that everyone is leaving in a clean environment that they love to be in. Keep reading down below to learn some more about the top things you can do to keep both your house and neighborhood spotless.

1. Add Plants to Your House

One of the best ways to increase the beauty and appearance of your home in the neighborhood is to add some plants and flowers. Not only will these flowers take away some of the carbon dioxides in the air and help out with climate change, they will make the front of your house look much more appealing. Plus, when a neighborhood is full of houses that look great on the outside thanks to plenty of flora, home values are going to go up.

2. Mow Your Lawn Regularly

No one likes to look at a home’s lawn that’s unkempt and overgrown. This is especially true if you’re living in a neighborhood that has pretty high standards for how lawns should look. Make sure you mow your lawn on a regular basis so that it looks great for all of those people who pass by on their morning walks. However, make sure not to waste too much water with your sprinkler or irrigation system. After you finish with the lawn, you can go inside to clean up the kitchen with the help of your garbage disposal from Down the Sink.

3. Help to Maintain the Sidewalks

If you have a sidewalk in front of your home in the neighborhood that you live in, then it’s important that you take the initiative to keep it clear. If it’s been snowing, then take out a shovel and get rid of the snow. Or if you see some extra trash laying around, then go out there and throw it away. This is not only going to make the front of your house more appealing but will ensure that nobody has to see unsightly trash or debris when they’re walking around.

4. Keep Those Storm Drains Clear

If you notice that storm drains around the neighborhood have trash or other debris blocking the passage of water, then that’s a great way to help out the neighborhood. Just go out with a pair of gloves on and clean up the drain so water can freely go out when the next rain storm hits.

5. Pick Up Litter Around the Neighborhood

This is something that you can do with your family members or other people around the neighborhood. Try to organize a day a week where everyone goes around and picks up litter around the neighborhood. A lot of the times, litter, and other debris can build up in the neighborhood, which is no good for the aesthetics and cleanliness of the community.

6. Always Pick Up After Your Pets

If you have a dog that you take out for a walk, then always clean up after them when they go to the bathroom. Nobody wants to walk around and see what your dog has been up to just lying on the sidewalk. Carry around doggy baggies wherever you walk your dog to ensure its picked up and thrown away in the proper trash cans.

7. Try to Create a Community Garden

Lastly, this one is going to take a bit more initiative on your part. You can work together with your family members and other neighbors to create a community garden somewhere in the neighborhood. This would be a garden that everyone can work together to maintain and take the fruits and veggies that are produced. This is a fantastic project that everyone will love, especially when that fresh produce comes out of the ground!

Each of these tips is great for not only keeping your own home clean and beautiful but also the rest of your neighborhood. Which one will you start to implement in your own community this weekend?
