Fix Scrolling & Lag in OS X Mavericks

Fix Scrolling and Lag in OS X Mavericks

OS X Mavericks is an incredible new operating system, but it’s not safe to say that it’s without bugs. After installing Mavericks, I immediately noticed that scrolling was not the same as it had been in Mountain Lion. Whenever I would launched an app that required scrolling (i.e. Google Chrome, Safari, the Mac App Store, etc), I’d notice that everything suddenly became i!inconsistent and lagged.
After speaking with several Apple representatives via AppleCare for over two hours, I was at a loss. No one knew how to resolve my problem. For two weeks, my Mac remained in this state.

Everything from Mission Control to gestures were inconsistent and lagged.

A few days ago, I powered up the design app, AutoCad 2013 to create some 3D designs. When I was finished, I quit the program and to my surprise, my system-wide lagging was was no more! I have no idea how or why AutoCad would resolve this issue, but I can assure you that it does indeed work. After doing a little research, I can confirm that others have performed this “fix” as well and it has resolved their problems.

If you’re a student, you can grab a free version of AutoCad off the company’s website. Otherwise, you’ll need to purchase the program. However, AutoCad might not be the only app capable of fixing this problem. Have you experienced this issue? Have you had any luck? Let us know in the comments below.
