Google EMD Logo

Last Friday afternoon, Google declared the exact match domain (EMD). It was a charge as a little and minor Google update, but the effects looked to be pretty huge, with various webmasters arrogating to have been hit.

Matt Cutts told Barry Schwatz this is a pretty major update to the Panda algorithm affecting 2.4% of search queries.

There is more to arrive with this update, where Google promises to release more to this Google Panda algorithm update over the next 3-4 days. Here is the answered Google’s Matt Cutts sent Barry Schwartz after asking about this update

Google began rolling out a new update of Panda on Thursday, 9/27. This is actually a Panda algorithm update, not just a data update. A lot of the most-visible differences went live Thursday 9/27, but the full rollout is baking into our index and that process will continue for another 3-4 days or so. This update affects about 2.4% of English queries to a degree that a regular user might notice, with a smaller impact in other languages (0.5% in French and Spanish, for example)

The several complaints and comments about this update is pretty up there. The stages of concern and those reporting position declines are vast. So it looks to have hit the SEO industry fairly tough. As tough as Google Panda or Penguin? Doubt it but time will tell.

Other than that, I feel this thing even more confusing; @GregrySmith was able to get Google’s Matt Cutts to affirm that the Exact Match Domain (EMD) update was only update to occurring at that time. Google head spam, Matt Cutts verified on Twitter that at least one other update was declared the similar time.

What incisively did that “other” update impact? Smith asked” As an Authority Local SEO Firm all sites we checked that was hit by Exact Match Domain (EMD) update was not EMD's at all. Can you describe this?" Matt Cutt replied, "Yes. 500+ algorithm released/year mean 1-2 a day. I know of at least one other algorithm releasing over same time frame for instance."

What was this other algorithm update? I am not 100% sure, but I will try to figure out.

Do you guys have an idea on what this other update was about?
